Wordless Wednesday: Men of the Eastwind #16

Wordless Wednesday is a daily prompt at Geneabloggers that asks family historians to create a post in which the main focus is a photograph or image.

Unknown sailors on USCGC Eastwind 1946 or 47 http://jollettetc.blogspot.com

When my dad was stationed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Eastwind in 1946-47, he took pictures of his shipmates during tours to Thule, Greenland but didn’t provide names.  Maybe the family of these sailors will find my blog and share their story.

  1. I have been looking at all these pictures of the Eastwind and crew trying to figure what the things are in each view. The last several photos, like this one beat the heck out of me!

    1. Maybe it's where they kept bees. Just kidding. It appears to have wheels, enabling it to be moved wherever and whenever needed. The slatted front appears to be hinged too, and if those are slats, then something needed to be vented.
