Wordless Wednesday is a daily
prompt at Geneabloggers that asks family historians to create a post in which
the main focus is a photograph or image.
When my dad was stationed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter
Eastwind in 1946-47, he took pictures of his shipmates during tours to Thule,
Greenland but didn’t provide names.
Maybe the family of these sailors will find my blog and share their
story.

Another great picture from time gone by. Neat that you are sharing them in hopes that someone will recognize and respond.
ReplyDeleteI like that my dad took individual photos, not just action shots.
DeleteWendy, good luck connecting the photos and the families. I'm sure you'll let us know if you make a connection.
ReplyDeleteYou betcha!
DeleteOh, you know someone would love to find that photo! Too bad no names...
ReplyDeleteI hope someone will look. I have even tweeted but maybe I don't have the right hash tags.
DeleteYou might want to try http://eastwindassoc.org/ which is the "alumni" site for the USCGC Eastwind (WAGB-279).
ReplyDeleteWhat a story! That ship did some really interesting work!
Thanks Iggy. I contacted the webmaster when I did a story about the ship last year but never heard back. I wonder how active the site is. But I looked at it again at your suggestion and I will try again since I have photos to offer if they are interested.
