Inside the back cover

On the last page of the photo album belonging to my great grandmother Mary Frances Jollett Davis is this poem written on the occasion of my great-grandfather Walter Davis’s death 80 years ago today.

The poem was written by Mary Frances’s sister Sallie Catherine Clift.

  1. A sweet remembrance--and how carefully your great grandmother kept it! Eighty years doesn't sound as long a time as it once did...

    1. I know! When I look back on the "old" people I remember dying when I was a child, I realize now they were my age. YIKES!

    1. I'm sure Sallie had a special fondness for him since he must have come to her rescue numerous times during her very troubled marriage. He also testified on her behalf when she filed for a divorce.

    1. Oh, her album is a mess with pictures falling out of the place holders. It's actually a wonder we even spied this poem. It's not like your grandmother's album.
