Wordless Wednesday: A Tricky Treat

Wordless Wednesday is a daily prompt at Geneabloggers that asks family historians to create a post in which the main focus is a photograph or image.

I myself was wordless that Halloween evening of 1966 or 1967 when I answered the door.  I was too old for trick or treating, so I was prepared to give out treats to all the little gypsies, princesses, witches, cowboys, and skeletons.  But instead I was met with these two full-grown trick-or-treaters:

Lucille Davis, Barbara Davis, Portsmouth, Virginia

My grandmother on the left and cousin Bobbie on the right.

Weren't they tricky?

  1. I remember that Halloween like it was yesterday! I couldn't figure out who in the world they were. That is the best memory.

    We have a great family!

    1. Oh yeah - it took me a little bit to figure it out. I think I recognized Grandma's dress that Bobbie was wearing.

Hey, I was telling my co-worker this week about the time that my grandmother & I went trick or treating. Grandma wanted to go to Buddy Hornick's house. Not the house across the street from her, but the house on up in Craddock where he lived with his wife. We knocked on his door & said the magic words. He immediately looked puzzled & told us that we looked too old to be doing this. He was very serious, & we told him that we just wanted our candy. He did give us candy, & we left to go home. Grandma never did tell him who we were. It was so funny!! Bobbie
