George Harvey Eppard is my maternal grandmother’s maternal grandfather, in other words my great-great grandfather. Here is his obituary sent to me by Bob Klein who manages the Shiflett Family website.
GEORGE H. EPPARD DIES, AGED RESIDENT OF SHENANDOAH CITY PASSES AWAY - WAS SEVENTY-SEVEN YEARS OLD - MEMBER OF THE METHODIST CHURCH
George Harvey Eppard died Saturday at his home in Shenandoah City, from an illness of chronic coma. His age was seventy-seven years, three months, and twenty-eight days.
Surviving him are his wife [Segourney F. Shiplett Eppard] and four children- Mrs. Joseph [Mary Susan “Sudie”] Rucker of Shenandoah City; Benjamin Eppard of West Virginia; Lester Eppard, a prominent attorney of Atlanta, Georgia; and Dr. Irvine Eppard, of Washington.
The funeral was held yesterday at the Methodist Church, of which he was a member.

I knew Grandma talked about someone in the family having moved to Washington that was a doctor. I think that is who she was going to stay with had she become a nurse.
