This made me smile. I have numerous photographs of the family's dogs among the family photographs. Of course, my ancestors were mostly farmers and always had a dog. The family dog obviously held a special place in the family.
ReplyDeleteI did not grow up with dogs, but my mother did. Maybe that's why we never had a dog. HA!

ReplyDeleteReally! I thought Skunk was the only one, but I've found 3 in Daddy's album.
DeleteWhen I think what a pain it use to be to take a picture and have it developed, I also think about how we were a little more selective about the pictures we took. (there was never a selfie in an entire roll!) Each photo had to count! So it makes me think that the dogs were important enough for him to want to remember them.
ReplyDeleteI had not thought about it like that. You're right. Developing film was expensive, so people were certainly more careful and thoughtful about picture-taking than we are today when we can delete immediately.
DeleteAww! What a cute mascot! I also like Michelle's point about the film cameras of yesteryear. The mascot dog must have been very important for your dad to have taken a picture of him.

DeleteWendy, perhaps on Veterans' Day we should also remember the dogs who have and who are serving.
ReplyDeleteColleen, I laughed when I read this, but actually come to think of it, there really are dogs that serve in the military in important ways. However, I suspect these last 3 dogs just went along for the ride.
