  1. This made me smile. I have numerous photographs of the family's dogs among the family photographs. Of course, my ancestors were mostly farmers and always had a dog. The family dog obviously held a special place in the family.

    1. I did not grow up with dogs, but my mother did. Maybe that's why we never had a dog. HA!

  2. How funny to have that many dogs on a ship!

    1. Really! I thought Skunk was the only one, but I've found 3 in Daddy's album.

  3. When I think what a pain it use to be to take a picture and have it developed, I also think about how we were a little more selective about the pictures we took. (there was never a selfie in an entire roll!) Each photo had to count! So it makes me think that the dogs were important enough for him to want to remember them.

    1. I had not thought about it like that. You're right. Developing film was expensive, so people were certainly more careful and thoughtful about picture-taking than we are today when we can delete immediately.

  4. Aww! What a cute mascot! I also like Michelle's point about the film cameras of yesteryear. The mascot dog must have been very important for your dad to have taken a picture of him.

    1. Too bad I can't recall Daddy ever mentioning this dog by name.

  5. Wendy, perhaps on Veterans' Day we should also remember the dogs who have and who are serving.

    1. Colleen, I laughed when I read this, but actually come to think of it, there really are dogs that serve in the military in important ways. However, I suspect these last 3 dogs just went along for the ride.
