Wordless Wednesday is a daily
prompt at Geneabloggers that asks family historians to create a post in which
the main focus is a photograph or image.
Granduncle Woody Woodring 1928 not just standing with that bush - but GAZING upon it too! For goodness sake! |
This is the 5th picture in a series of photos taken with
that peculiar bush at my great-grandparents’ home in Shenandoah, Virginia.
However, thanks to reader Carol, I can now identify the
bush as a Weeping Mulberry. One
landscape website promotes the Weeping Mulberry as a perfect addition to the
yard because it makes a great playhouse for the kids or even a very private
outdoor shower stall. Yeah, I can see
that – the dense foliage would provide plenty of privacy for either purpose.
He does seem very pleased with that bush. Maybe he planted it? I guess it wasn't your blog where I saw a weeping bush with children having a picnic or setting up house under and inside its branches (or you would have linked back to it).
ReplyDeleteNo, not mine but I can see how the weeping mulberry makes a great hide-out.
DeleteThat really was a popular bush in the family! I wonder why so many photos were taken with it. And just why was Woody smiling at the bush? Perhaps there was an inside joke going on with photos of this bush. Or maybe it was planted by someone special.
ReplyDeleteI imagine Velma cracked a joke or something to make him smile at the bush. So goofy!!
