Sentimental Sunday: Happy Mother's Day

Sentimental Sunday is a daily prompt at Geneabloggers that encourages bloggers to create a post discussing a sentimental story or memory about an ancestor or maybe even a family tradition.

My great-grandmother Mary Theresa Sheehan Killeen Walsh saved many of the Mother’s Day cards sent to her by her children and grandchildren. The only child not represented in her collection is my grandaunt Lil. That surprises me.

    1. I am not a card saver. I am sure my 3x great-grandchildren will be disappointed.

  2. That is interesting about no cards from the one daughter. The other cards are so sweet. Happy Mother's Day!

    1. All I can figure is that Lillie lived with her mother, so maybe she didn't feel that she needed to give her a card.

    1. Actually, I just got them a few weeks ago. My aunt got them when she cleaned out my grand aunt Helen's house. The cards are glued into scrapbooks.

    1. I love these cards because they are so different from today's style of cards.

  5. While I loving having this type of thing from my ancestors, I've never thought about saving my own. Sad.

  6. My grandmother's didn't save theirs. Or if they did, they got tossed out along the way. My mother saved many and I must admit that I save them too. None as beautiful as those you shared here though.
