Wordless Wednesday is a daily prompt at Geneabloggers
that asks family historians to create a post in which the main focus is a
photograph or image.
When my dad was stationed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter
Eastwind in 1946-47, he took pictures of his shipmates during tours to Thule,
Greenland but didn’t provide names.
Maybe the family of these sailors will find my blog and share their
story.

Wendy, the US Coast Guard has a website with a page for "Eastwind, 1944". Maybe you can contact the Historian's Office & ask if you can set up a link to your images.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know -- I found it when I first did a piece on my dad's career in the Coast Guard. I used it to compare dates to get an idea about what ship he was on and what work he might have done.
DeleteGosh this is such a great close-up! I sure hope his family stumbles on his picture somehow. What I wouldn't give to have such a picture of some of my ancestors!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it a great photo??
DeleteThat really is a great photo. Hopefully his family finds your blog so they can see it. You're doing a fantastic service sharing these photos Wendy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jana. I keep hoping one of these photos will click with somebody.
