Wordless Wednesday is a daily prompt at
Geneabloggers that asks family historians to create a post in which the main
focus is a photograph or image.
Today would be my mother’s 87th birthday. “Ming1Dee”
was her user name on her AOL account which she used for email and instant
message, probably most often with her grandchildren. “Ming” was her official grandmother
name; “Dee” became a second name when grandchild #3 came along. “Dee” was his
mispronunciation of “Ming,” but it stuck.

Wendy, lovely pictures of your Mom. It is great that you have many loving memories of her & that you can share those memories through your genealogy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful woman your mom was! What a cute nickname for grandmother too :) I like sometimes how the grandchildren themselves end up naming what they want their grandparents to be called. I am sure you have such fantastic memories of her and I am sure she is missed.

Your Mom was very with it as an AOL e-mailer...cute user tag. So wonderful that you have the photos of her. It's neat the way grandkids have a special way of tagging grandparents. She was a lovely lady.
ReplyDeleteAww, what cute grandma names your mom had! And those are such great pictures of her. Your mom was so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI don't think we ever can forget our parents' birthdays, no matter how long they've been gone. They really have become an integral part of us. Your mom was lovely. Thanks for sharing the reminiscence with us through those wonderful photos, Wendy. Love that last one!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, Wendy. My nickname for my father's father also came from a mis-pronunciation of mine as a child. Even my dad referred to him as Boppa until he (my dad) passed away and my mother and stepmother still do too sometimes.
ReplyDeleteLove the Ming1Dee story. I think you look a lot like her!
