On Thanksgiving Day, turkey is the highlight of the
harvest table. My husband’s family historically were farmers, and many of them
were in poultry. Turkey farmers.

My brother-in-law was not a farmer, but in 1985 he managed to
attract a flock of wild turkeys to his yard.

Those turkeys were far too trusting.

ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours! Now I have to know, did any of those turkeys end up on your family's Thanksgiving table?

The first picture is ahead of my time. Now as for Donald, he probably got one of those backyard turkeys for his table but we were not there. We did have a wild turkey one year. Even the white meat was dark. Overall, the flavor reminded me of beef. That was strange but it tasted good.
DeleteHappy Turkey day Wendy!! Hope your roads are dry and the turkey is not.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura. And the same to you!
DeleteHope you had a great Thanksgiving! I didn't realize there was any difference in wild turkeys. I've heard they are not easy to hunt, but it looks like your brother-in-law knew really was the turkey whisperer!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Thanksgiving. Great pictures!
