Wordless Wednesday: Actors

Wordless Wednesday is a daily prompt at Geneabloggers that asks family historians to create a post in which the main focus is a photograph or image.

This is another picture of my great-aunt Helen KilleenParker’s friends at Ocean View, sometime between 1918 and 1920.  This one is captioned “Actors,” but don’t ask me why.  Do they look theatrical?

  1. Lively photo. Perhaps they are acting or posing for the camera.

    1. There's another photo where they're "swimming" in the sand. Now THAT one should be titled "Actors."

  2. I guess there are no names? Aunt Helen needed creative memories back then to remind her of the who, what, when, and where of scrapbooking!

Maybe they were acting sun burnt.

    1. The girl standing is Gertrude. She's labeled in another picture wearing the same cap but different bathing garb. Maybe it was a different day. Helen also labeled Sarah, Agnes, and Lucille, but they're not in this picture.

    1. Those swim dresses and stockings had to be hot.

  4. They do appear to be of the acting class! Great photo! It's funny about how back then (through my own grandmother's album) everyone seemed to be actors!

    1. I guess goofing off in front of a camera is universal and timeless.

  5. I want that bathing suit as a dress along with that headband...I would certainly have loved to be among those actors!

I love your photos...they would make a very interesting collage.

    Happy WEdnesday!

    1. The gal on the left looks like she'd fit in with Lucy and Ethel at the candy factory.
